What a relief it is to break away from that works mentality which tries and tries to sneak its way into my thinking.Mandyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03449047627099384030noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4010332933050943413.post-82094682960549212062007-11-05T16:12:00.000-08:002007-11-05T16:12:00.000-08:00I LOVE you -- I really really do. I had to giggle when you said, "I always need to communicate my needs/preferences about the topic and make sure my needs are met. I can't just keep my trap shut..." yes, very true. But, that is what makes you, YOU. I have seen such amazing growth in you my friend (you do realize I've known you for 12 years now) and I've just witnessed another surge of growth. Yes, I agree, it's NOT about you. :-)

And, what a terrific ah-ha moment and wonderful insight from the older couple you were with. It truly is about God (re)establishing a relationship with His people.Daisyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08655018888616717698noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4010332933050943413.post-23950604326265857982007-11-05T10:09:00.000-08:002007-11-05T10:09:00.000-08:00Sheesh bigkat - no pressure! That sounds wonderful,...Sheesh bigkat - no pressure!

That sounds wonderful, I wish I knew about this stuff when I was 6 years old!Polly Gamwichhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09338430066217324064noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4010332933050943413.post-22148569577332330382007-11-05T10:07:00.000-08:002007-11-05T10:07:00.000-08:00"did you ever think of the Bible as a picture of w..."did you ever think of the Bible as a picture of what God does in the lives of His people (as in, He's working through all of their choices and circumstances) rather than a story about a bunch of different people?"

This year, we made a curriculum change in our kids Sunday School class to address this issue. One of my complaints of all of our older curriculums was that they tended to teach the Bible stories as a bunch of individual stories, often with their own moral lessons. The stories would focus on this person's obedience or that person's generosity. Now, our lessons teach the Bible as God's story. And when we learn about people, we learn about how God's purposes were served through them. It has been an interesting challenge as a Sunday School teacher. Not only do you have to understand the Bible story in terms of what it tells us about God's plan of salvation and/or His character. But you also have to articulate this information in a way that a 6 or 7 year old can understand it.BigKathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00965296514466216108noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4010332933050943413.post-13506744808890097682007-11-04T19:32:00.000-08:002007-11-04T19:32:00.000-08:00Amen sister. If we really believed that, wouldn't things be so different?
